There’s something undeniably sacred about weddings held at the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá—California’s very first mission and one of the most beautiful pieces of living history in San Diego. This traditional and heartfelt wedding captured everything that makes this venue so special: reverence, romance, and a deep sense of timelessness.
As golden light filtered through the mission’s arched windows and danced along the centuries-old adobe walls, guests quietly took their seats beneath the high wood-beamed ceiling. The hush in the air was palpable.
The bride walked down the aisle in a stunning lace gown with a cathedral-length veil that trailed behind her like a whisper.
Following the ceremony, we took portraits around the mission’s picturesque grounds. The gardens, full of blooming bougainvillea and swaying palms, made the perfect backdrop for romantic couple portraits. One of my favorite moments was capturing the couple framed by the arched bell tower, holding each other as if the rest of the world had fallen away.
Their reception, held nearby, was a warm and joyful celebration. Long farmhouse tables were decorated with flickering candles and soft greenery.
